Distractions

Starting this blog may not have been the smartest thing, well starting this web page. Its very hard to get focused on writing Fire Sky when I have this blog stuff to do. I'm holding the line well but it's getting to be a bit. I should have waited until Fire Sky was done but live and learn.

I'm on 63rd chapter and this is a finishing chapter, not that I'm done with the story but for this story element covered in this chapter I'm putting the player into the end game. This is the first chapter where a story element has been set up for the endgame. It makes me a bit tense to be committing to the ending so soon but what the heck the end is on!

Once you get this far into a story your perspective starts to change. The creativity you exercise here is teh creativity of connections. Making this story element mesh with that one. Your free will as a story teller starts to be limited as you close in with the end. At the start you can do anything but as you move towards the end you have the character history holding you in place and you have an ending pulling you forward so your freedom is limited.

Far from being easy, this limited freedom is what kills most writers I think. If you make it this far on creativity alone you may hit the wall you your character need more then just something new. When they need depth and motivation you have to harness your creativity to a new cart and change it up. Can't just keep doing the same thing because here at the end the game has changed.
