Here now the story of the December storm

For 2009 it promised more then the norm.

Wet form the south and cool from the on high

We were told the snow and ice would fall form the sky

From Wednesday to Friday it was almost here

Commuters and buss drivers held out in fear

We waited and waited and for our arctic blast

We wonder how long this blast would last.

On Friday the news went on the blitz

It’s almost here, this is going to be it!

Reporter to the south reported its advance

We watched the reports as if in a trance

At Trimet the word went out “put on the chains!”

To protect us from snow and freezing type rain

The busses were chained in time for the snow

The busses were chained we were ready to go.

From 7 to 10 to midnight they pushed back

The exact time of the winter attack

Then morning then noon then late in the day

Then it may not hit us and may blow away

Off go the chains, as busses pull out

A few minutes delay as you start on your route

What was snow and ice is only a drizzle

And out big winter storm was really a fizzle
